Tips to get that glossy clean mirror

Posted by Mathew Donelly on

Love a shimmery clean mirror?

You take the time out to clean your mirror, but then you walk past it shortly after and it's still streaky! URGH! It is frustrating as a spotlessly clean glass or mirror is SOO satisfying!

Here are some tips on how to clean that mirror to be shiny and streak-free and it will take hardly any time at all. What you'll need is;

  • Cotton pad,
  • Rubbing alcohol,
  • Clean micro-fibre cloth,
  • Your preferred glass cleaner, and
  • a little elbow grease.

- Note: You can use a shop bought brand or try out some homemade, natural and environmentally friendly versions. Check out this one from Wellness Mama.

OK, here we go!

1. Dab some rubbing alcohol on the cotton pad and focus on all the obvious marks and splatters, and clean them up one at a time.

2. Spray a fine mist (not too much and sopping) of your window cleaner evenly across the surface.

3. Fold the micro-fibre cloth twice and beginning at a top corner, get in there and give it a good clean. Rub along the top in to the opposite corner and clean thoroughly in there, then zig zag across the full length of the mirror until you reach the base and repeat the same clean in to the bottom corners. If there is any moisture repeat the zig zag process with a new fresh side of the micro-fibre cloth from top to bottom again.

4. Scope the mirror from other angles, you will see any marks and existing streaks remaining when you change your perspective and light angles refracted from the surface. If you see any, sprits a bit of your cleaner on a new clean side of your micro-fibre cloth and give them a quick firm wipe.

All done. Enjoy!
